Women’s Association News – April 2018
If you missed the Women’s Brunch in February, there is another scheduled for Saturday, May 5, from 1:00 to 3:00. The theme is Women of the Bible; this promises to be a fun and entertaining event. Watch for more information in the bulletin and the May newsletter.
Speaking of dates, there will be a special event at our coffee hour after services on Sunday, April 29. Estelle Schneiderwind will be turning 100 in May, and we are having a birthday party for her. Please plan to stay after church for this and share her birthday with her.
During April, the Presbyterian Women hold the Birthday Offering during to celebrate the history of mission giving. This began in 1922 and has become an annual tradition, funding nearly 100 major mission projects. This year three grants will be funded, two in the United States and one in Honduras.
In Minneapolis-St. Paul funding will provide an addition to the Dwelling Place, in order to serve more women and children in need of a safe place. The Cottage Village in Oregon will provide a tiny house community for very low income persons in a rural area. In Honduras, the Village of Grace Center will provide a retreat center for housing mission teams, workshops, and hospitality, managed by Presbyterian Women in Tegucigalpa. There will be offering envelopes in the pew racks for your consideration. Many thanks for your support.
On Saturday, March 10, we held a sewing day, making lap robes for nursing home residents. It was a very productive day, and we are looking forward to scheduling another later in the fall. In the meantime, there are lap robe kits available to be taken home and sewn. If you have any questions, call Carol Eder at 715-373-2523.
