From the Desk of Intergenerational Ministry – May 2018
Hello, Church Family!
Intergenerational Ministry is in full swing this month as our children will be sewing baby hats and other items for the newborns at Memorial Medical Center. It will be their second time taking items up to the hospital for the babies.
We are also looking forward to the fun of learning the art of mosaics with Rose Spieler-Sanburg. Rose was the designated coordinator for the design and creation of the mosaics you will see on the City garbage bins, which should be coming out soon. We are fortunate to have her expertise.
This year you can expect a little something special for Mother’s Day as we take time to honor all of our mothers and the woman who helped mold us into the people we are today.
And… If you like Indian tacos and you care about the youth in our church, be sure to stop by May 19th. We will be dishing up some of the best Indian tacos in town in an effort to raise money for future youth trips. We welcome anyone who would be interested in helping our youth.
As our church continues to grow, so do our young children. There will be seven students participating in confirmation this year. We are asking people to please write the students cards, encouraging them to continue on their spiritual journey with God. You may use your own cards, otherwise there will be some provided at the in the pews. Place them in the collection basket so we can give them all to them on May 20th.

Connecting with each other
Our Sunday school children are starting to take more time to recognize new babies in our church family. Whenever a child is baptized, they will write them little notes that we compile and mail to the family, along with a hat sewn by our sewing club.
Next fall, I am looking into a better way for us to honor everyone’s birthday. I appreciate any ideas you may have.
End-of-the-year banquet will be June 9th 5:00 pm – 7:30pm. Now for the bigger questions. What is it and who is it for? Very good question! It is for EVERYONE!! It is a time to reflect on our journey and celebrate in all that we have done together.
As I look back at the time I have spent here at UPCC, I am in awe of the amazing strength and perseverance of our church family. Everywhere I look, I see people helping people. I see so many people quietly volunteering their time to better our church. It takes so many of us to keep this church thriving as we move forward. I wanted to use this time as a way for us to come together and reflect on our journey together. There will be a special dinner and video presentation documenting our journey together.
I am asking for everyone to please help me identify the positive changes you have seen in the church over the past couple of years. In addition, if you think there are any people who you feel have gone above and beyond for our church please share who and why you think they are a gift to our church. I would also appreciate any pictures you would like included in our video.
This should be a fun and upbeat kind of a night. I hope to see all of you there.
Many blessings,
Jill Zifko, Intergenerational Ministry
