Women’s Association News – November 2019
Many thanks to everyone who donated items to the shower for the New Day Shelter. We got an awesome amount of items that will go a long way to help these women and children in need. We had delicious snacks, and Leighann gave us a lot of information about the shelter, their services, and needs.
We are no longer collecting used postage stamps, as we have not been able to find an agency that uses them to supplement their income. Thanks to all who have contributed in the past.
The annual Holiday Bazaar is coming up on Saturday, December 7th, in the church dining room. In the next couple of weeks we will be calling each woman in the church to ask for donations of cookies, fancy sandwiches, or a donation of money, if they prefer, for the Tea Room. There is also a need for baked goods to sell, as well as candy, and jams and jellies. We will again be selling cookies by the pound. The craft table can use any craft item such as sewing, knitting, children’s items, homemade ornaments, wreaths, or table decorations, woodworking items, and baskets of special gifts. This year we are also having a Granny’s Boutique, and are asking for new or gently used small items such as knick-knacks, vases, picture frames, holiday decorations, any such items that could be used as gifts. There is also a need for people to help with set- up and decorating on Friday, Dec. 6th, and if you would like to help during the bazaar, please let RoAnn know (715-292-3893) or mention it when you are called. This is our one fundraiser each year, and we try to raise enough money to fund our projects for the coming year. Last but not least, plan on coming to the bazaar, enjoying some special sandwiches and cookies in the tea room, and finding just that perfect gift you were looking for.
Nationally we participate in the annual Thank Offering of Presbyterian Women, which funds mission projects both at home and internationally. This offering, as a thank offering to our Lord for His blessings, enables funding of extra mission grants such as intergenerational learning experiences between children and seniors, helping with the needs of the homeless in a shelter, Kids EmPower packs of food for children in need of food at home, to name just a few. The blue envelopes will be in the pew racks until mid-November for your consideration. Many thanks.
