Jacalyn Schlies

Jacalyn Schlies is originally from this area, graduating from Ashland High School in 2001; graduating from UW-Superior with degrees in instrumental and choral music, and has been teaching middle school band in Ashland since 2022. Jacalyn married in 2007 and had her son, Hallby Williams, in 2009. She moved to Colorado. When she “came home,” she wanted to teach. “I’ve spent the majority of my career in K-12 schools running the entire music department, so I’m used to having a very busy schedule,” she said. Although she enjoys downhill and cross-country skiing, spending time in the Boundary Waters and fishing, she said, “Being a music teacher is pretty much my hobby because it is very time consuming.”
