Women’s Association News – April 2019

Women’s Association News

Our order of new silverware for the kitchen has arrived.   This will give us enough for large groups such as the Thanksgiving Dinner and large funeral lunches, among other things.  These were purchased with funds raised at our annual bazaar. The Birthday Offering began in 1922, and celebrates Presbyterian Women’s history of giving. Now it is an annual tradition and has funded more than 200 mission projects, touching the lives of hundreds of women and children.   This year four projects have been chosen for funding. These include a warehouse for the disaster response team of the Presbytery of Charlotte, North Carolina to hold household goods, food, hygiene and school kits, clean-up buckets, as well as mobile shower units. Other grants are for improvements to the playground surface  and equipment at the Child Development Center in Effingham, Illinois; new furnishings for nursing home residents of Presbyterian Homes and Services, Kentucky in the Appalachian region; and Wings of Refuge for a larger safe home for women victimized by human trafficking in Iowa Falls, Iowa. There will be envelopes in the pew racks during the month  of April for your consideration. We thank everyone for your support. We wish everyone a blessed Easter season.
