Women’s Association News – December 2023

The bazaar day is here! We hope many of you plan to stop in and see what is available to help with your Christ-mas shopping, as well as many baked items and the packaged cookies. We need cookies that we can package and sell. Help needed Friday morning, Dec. 1 for set-up and decorating. Also needed Saturday, Dec. 2, during sale hours and for clean-up.

December team meeting is Monday, December 11th at 10 a.m. Circle meeting is a week early, also Monday, December 11th. We will meet at 11 a.m. to assemble gift packages for our shut-in members, and each member is asked to bring two dozen cookies for this. There will be no Bible study that day. We wish everyone a blessed Christmas season.

Many thanks for your generous response to the Thank Offering. We are able to send $376 to Presbyterian Women to aid in the grant projects. Part of the Presbyterian Women Thank Offering of 2022 supported The Arise Collective Women’s Reentry Project, a prison ministry for women based in Raleigh, North Carolina.

“Lack of access to safe and affordable housing is one of the most significant barriers to a successful reentry (after being in prison). Over the last year, the program has served 44 residents in seven Bridge Housing units with a current average stay of seven months. Preliminary internal data indicate a recidivism rate for residential participants as low as 5-7 percent, approximately one-quarter of the state average.”
