Women’s Association News – October 2018

We had a very successful Cluster meeting, with women travelling from the Manitowish Waters and Hurley churches.  RoAnn Ledin chaired the meeting and program, which was centered on mission, with many
projects being presented.  Our thanks to Kat Whitten for preparing the delicious lunch, to Cheryl Drevlow for the beautiful table decorations, and to Jill Zifko and Rev. Jim Deters for their presentations to the program.

Keep in mind our Holiday Bazaar, which is coming up on Saturday, December 1, and plan your craft donations, jams and jellies, candy, and baked items.  We will have the cookies-by-the-pound sale, so many donations are needed. Also needed is help during the sale and people to attend the Tea Room for delicious sandwiches and cookies. There will be a quilt raffle, so watch for the sale of tickets soon.

Presbyterian Women participate in the Thank Offering each fall. This was established in 1888 when women were urged to give above their normal giving as a “thank
offering to her Lord.”    This year, sixteen projects have been chosen for funding, twelve being ministries serving people in need in the US.

Four projects are international, and more than 40% of the projects funded are for health ministries.   There will be envelopes in the pew racks from mid-October to
mid-November for your consideration and support.

We still have some lap robe kits ready to take home and sew.  We plan to distribute them to nursing home residents later this fall.
